Company:  We have been retained by our client, who is a major, national multi-billion dollar food manufacturer with headquarters located in the Midwest USA.

Local Plant Location:  Irvine, CA


Compensation:  $90,000 base salary, plus bonus, depending on past salary history and experience.


Reports to:  This role reports to the Corporate Quality Director (at headquarter offices in the Midwest USA) with dotted line reporting to the local Plant Manager


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


Create and maintain an interdependent EHS culture to be compliant with regulatory requirements while ensuring a safe and secure working environment with the following outcomes:


  • Implement Environmental Health Safety & Security (EHS&S) and Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) to monitor performance of EHS&S systems

  • Implement an EHS&S risk management system that is transparent and action-oriented

  • Implement core processes and training with incident response process, walk-through inspection process/checklist and LOTO, HOT Work, Elevated work, Confined Space

  • Implement method for tracking waste source

  • Implement SDS Process


Manages employees in the Quality Assurance department.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance and developing employees; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Ensuring the facility delivers the required standards of food safety according within company and regulatory policies, procedures, and practices Develop and mentor a strong quality team that supports a world class manufacturing system Being responsible for managing BRC/SQF/USDA and all quality assurance and food safety audits.  Records of all reviews and reasons for amending documents, validations and changes to the BRC/SQF/USDA System shall be maintained Ensuring the development, compliance, and certification of HACCP and other food safety programs and adherence to required food safety laws, regulations, corporate policies and practices Managing facility inspections, traceability, testing, vendor auditing, allergen and microbial program compliance Deliver continuous quality improvement in plant through use of systematic tools and processes Preparation and implementation of operations and QA standard operating procedures (SOP's) that supports company programs and requirements Work with Corporate Quality department in the execution of company programs and processes Ensuring key traceability, inspection program management, vendor management, and microbial program metrics are established, and the delivery of the established metrics and Key Performance Indices (KPI’s) Lead factory as the subject matter expert (SME) on decisions related to plant quality programs and processes Lead the factory to build a sustainable quality culture where quality is part of everyone’s role Working collaboratively across all necessary functions to ensure adherence to established programs and practices Primary plant contact and communication for customers and suppliers for all quality, food safety and regulatory issues.


REQUIRED SKILLS


Undergraduate degree (Bachelor's degree B. A.) from four-year college or university Five to seven years EHS and Quality Assurance management experience within the food manufacturing or food packaging industries. Leadership experience, and transformational leadership traits will be a huge plus
